How we prepare each device
What happens to a device before it is posted to you.
DRAFT — for review. This text is a working draft and must be approved (legal/compliance) before launch.
This page describes our preparation process. Items marked [TBC] are being finalised and are not yet promises.
The hardware
- Drives come from [TBC: supplier and how it is chosen].
- Every drive is checked for its genuine capacity before use [TBC: tool and method].
The software
- We download [TBC: OS name pending trademark review] version [TBC] from [TBC: official download page] and check the download against the project's published signature before writing it [TBC: confirm the exact steps].
- The image we write has this SHA-256 checksum:
[TBC](prepared [TBC]). You can check it yourself with the verify or re-flash guide. - We do not add, remove or change any software in the image.
Before posting
- Each device is started once on a test computer to confirm it boots [TBC].
- It is recorded against an internal product ID with the software version written to it. No customer details are stored with that record.
- [TBC: packaging and tamper-evident seal.]
What we never do
We never set up, see or keep a passphrase for you, and we never install accounts or remote access.
