Verify or re-flash your device
Check that your device holds the expected software, or write a fresh copy yourself.

You do not have to trust us: you can always replace the software on your device with a fresh copy from the official project.

Re-flash with a fresh, verified copy (recommended)
- On another computer, download the USB image from the official page: [TBC: official download page].
- Verify the download using the official instructions on that page.
- Write it to your PRIVACYBOOT device with the tool recommended there. This erases everything on the device, including Persistent Storage, so back up first.
Check a download against our checksum
- Windows (PowerShell):
Get-FileHash .\image.img -Algorithm SHA256 - macOS:
shasum -a 256 image.img - Linux:
sha256sum image.img
The result should match the SHA-256 above. If it does not, do not use the file, and email support@privacyboot.com.
